Back from the Consumer Electronics Show

On Tuesday, I arrived back in Atlanta after having spent a week and-a-half in Las Vegas at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).  Despite concerns that the mammoth show that occupies space in the Las Vegas Convention Center and Sands Expo Center had fallen off in participation and attendance this year, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) reported this week that, “more than 2,700 global companies, including 300 new exhibitors, unveiled an estimated 20,000 new technology products” at this year’s show.

I can report from first-hand experience that the show was well trafficked and there were plenty of hot new items to be excited about in 2009.

My favorite new toy was Panasonic’s paper thin Viera Z1 plasma monitor that is approximately one-third of an inch in depth — that would be nice hanging on any living room wall!

Did you attend CES this year, and if so, let me know what you think about the direction of the industry by posting a comment in our Ask an Expert form here.  I will respond to any feedback in one my next blogs.

Until then…
