International CES: First Real Test of 2010
With Christmas less than four days away and New Year’s not far behind, we’re all anxiously awaiting the end of what has been a tumultuous year for trade show industry. The good news is that signs from the past eight weeks all seem to be pointing towards recovery in 2010. The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), held Jan. 7 to 10 in Las Vegas, will be the first trade show to put this theory to test in the new year.
The general thought is that while attendance is expected to be down 20 to 30 percent, CES will still be full of innovation. A quick Google search for the terms “CES 2010″ + “new product launch” returned nearly 18,000 pages and gadget blog sites such as Gizmodo (Technorati Authority = 881) are all abuzz with new tech offerings to be unveiled in a few weeks.
What toy is at the top of my wish list this year? I like the look of the new 7-inch ICD Ultra Tablet. It runs Android 2.0 and is one of the sleekest tablets to-date and would make a wonderful stocking stuffer for the tech-loving nerd in your life (hint, hint Jess).
Planning to be at CES next month? Ping me because I’d love to get your reaction to the show, attendance, etc. I’ll be on the floor Jan. 9 to 10. Coffee is on me.
Merry Christmas!
